We're hiring part-time retail associates!

Open Invite is a home and lifestyle brick-and-mortar shop looking to hire part-time retail associates to join our team. We're located in Red Hook, Brooklyn, a charming seaside neighborhood home to a wonderful community of artists and makers, great restaurants and bars, and boutiques.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys connecting with people, appreciates decor & design, and has a natural attention to detail. As our name suggests, our goal is to create a warm and welcoming environment for every person who walks into the shop.

We're hiring for shifts Wednesday through Sunday; we’re closed on Monday & Tuesday. Weekend availability is a must.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and create a welcoming in-store experience
Assist shoppers in finding products and making thoughtful recommendations
Help maintain thoughtful merchandising and a beautiful shop environment
Operate the Point-of-Sale system, handle transactions, and gift wrap as needed
Keep the shop tidy, organized, and well-stocked throughout the day
Help receive and unpack new inventory
Help fulfill and pack online orders as needed
Support occasional store events
Light cleaning i.e. sweeping and dusting
Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Ideal Candidate

Retail or service experience preferred
Friendly, reliable, and naturally curious about design & vintage objects
Comfortable chatting with customers and helping them find what they need
Organized and detail-oriented, with a strong sense of care and responsibility
Able to multitask during busy moments while maintaining a calm, welcoming presence
Comfortable and careful handling fragile items

Position Details

Part-time: ~10–20 hours per week
Schedule: mix of weekday and weekend shifts; weekend availability is a must
Start date: September
Location: Red Hook, Brooklyn
Pay: $22–$25/hour depending on experience
